REINFORCED CONCRETE DESIGN covers concepts and methods of design for
reinforced concrete structures comprising beam and slab. This course emphasizes on
knowledge and practice of producing double storey reinforced concrete building design
starting from the layout plan, action analysis, structural design and detailing according
to Eurocode 2 (EC2).

Summary
Reinforced concrete is one of the principal materials used in many civil engineering applications, such as the construction of buildings, highways, bridges, foundations, water-retaining structures and retaining walls. This module will explain the introductions of reinforced concrete design based on Eurocode 2 standards. Eurocode 2 must be used in conjunction with other Malaysian Standards including Eurocode: Basis of structural design. The content of this module has three chapters that cover the design concept, the analysis of section and the shear, deflection, cracking and detailing. Reinforced concrete design is an essential course taught in a Diploma and Bachelor of Civil Engineering programme curriculum in almost all Malaysian polytechnics and universities.
