- Boiling water – When water is heated, the hot water at the bottom rises while cooler water sinks, forming convection currents that evenly heat the pot.
- Room heating or air conditioning – Warm air from a heater rises and cooler air moves down, circulating heat throughout the room.
- Oven cooking (convection ovens) – Fans circulate hot air, cooking food evenly and faster.
- Sea and land breezes – During the day, warm air over land rises and cooler air from the sea moves in to replace it (and vice versa at night).
- Car radiators – Coolant circulates through the engine, absorbing heat and releasing it through convection to the air passing over the radiator.
