- Check responsiveness & breathing — Tap and shout. If no response and not breathing normally, call emergency services.
- Start chest compressions — Place hands center of chest, push hard and fast (about 2 inches deep, ~100–120/min).
- Open airway — Tilt head back, lift chin.
- Give rescue breaths — Pinch nose, make a seal, give 2 breaths (each ~1 second) watching chest rise.
(If untrained or uncomfortable giving breaths, do hands-only CPR: compressions only.) - Continue — 30 compressions + 2 breaths, repeat until help arrives or person breathes.
